After a long and heartbreaking journey to Dimitri’s birthplace in Siberia, Rose Hathaway has finally returned to St. Vladimir’s—and to her best friend, Lissa Dragomir. It's graduation, and the girls can’t wait for their real lives outside of the Academy’s cold iron gates to finally begin. But even with the intrigue and excitement of court life looming, Rose’s heart still aches for Dimitri. He's out there, somewhere.
She failed to kill him when she had the chance, and now her worst fears are about to come true. Dimitri has tasted her blood, and she knows in her heart that he is hunting her. And if Rose won't join him, he won't rest until he's silenced her...forever.
But Rose can't forget what she learned on her journey—whispers of a magic too impossible and terrifying to comprehend. A magic inextricably tied to Lissa that could hold the answer to all of Rose's prayers, but not without devastating consequences. Now Rose will have to decide what—and who—matters most to her. In the end, is true love really worth the price?
Fall in love with Rose and Dimitri all over again in Spirit Bound, the eagerly awaited fifth novel in Richelle Mead's enthralling Vampire Academy series. - Good Reads
Oh MY GOD! It's now 5:34 in the morning and I stayed up ALL NIGHT because I could not put this down. Wow! I'm about to fall over, but I need to get out my thoughts before I go to sleep or I'll burst.

The best part about this book is I actually spoiled myself on spoilers not too long ago and somehow I became so caught up reading that I didn't even suspect things I already knew were going to happen! The story was just that drama-packed and that transfixing.

Rose, oh Rose. There were times I was frustrated with her. Her attitude towards Adrian was  wrong. Just wrong. I felt such pity for him because he truly and honestly loves her and she kept stringing him along. I can't entirely fault her for her confusion. After all, she's just a young girl who's ex-boyfriend is hunting her down to kill her and she doesn't know if she'll ever be with him again. Perhaps jumping into the arms of another is no good, but this other guy has been there for her when she needed him. Always! And she just brushes his help off as if it's nothing and not giving him the respect he deserves. The whole situation is just unfortunate. I can't really fault anyone completely, I suppose. What a tangled web we weave...

My big frustrations actually lay more with Dimitri. He was acting like a mix between a douche and a drama queen.  Now, again, I understand everything he's been through, BUT REALLY? Stop being a martyr! It's okay, Dima, I still love you, even if you're acting тупой, but ahhh! I literally jumped out of my seat cursing my head off at him during a couple of scenes.

Now, that may sound like I had tons of issues with the book. Rose is acting like a hooker, Dimitri is a douche and well... Adrian, he truly is just being a saint through it all. But despite all of that I loved the book. I read a lot of books, but not many find me so emotionally involved. I think a lot of my frustrations that came with this book came out of my love for the characters ultimately. It's rough seeing characters you care about acting a fool or making mistakes. But in the end, we all make mistakes and we all fall short and things never go perfect. That's how Richelle Mead managed to stir up all the tension! Damn her! I nearly had a heart attack at least 162 times.

READ THIS SERIES! FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS HOLY! It's good stuff!

  1. Would you believe I came across someone today who really really doesn't like VA at all? To each their own I guess. I can understand your frustration Liza. Hence why this one was my least fav of the series.

Rose: Her treatment of Adrian is deplorable. Even if Dimitri was Strigoi she clearly wasn't over him so she shouldn't have strung Adrian along.
Adrian: Too nice to be a believable character for me.
Lissa: I've always wanted to tear her hair out. I find her to be so useless and very selfish. When she told Rose not to see Dimitri I wanted to punch her.
Dimitri: I just can't get over his kissing Lissa's feet for her two seconds of help compared to what Rose had to sacrifice for him.

I think after this book, I transferred my affection to Christian, Mia and Eddie. Despite all my complaints, I am still in love with VA.

  2. Hi! Thank you for following & commenting on my blog. :) I have to agree! The Lovely Bones was just very disturbing. And of course, when Susie was describing him in the beginning, I imagined what he'd look like and so if I see someone who looks like him, I instantly am like OMG, haha.

And this was a great review! I actually really want to read this book! I'm definitely going to have to go get it now. :)

I'm so glad you liked it!! Why haven't we started this series earlier?! When sacrificing sleep comes into the equation is definitely epic love!!

    -thank you&come again.

  4. @Lan I guess I'm not surprised - even some of the books I thought were amazing and couldn't understand people not loving have people who hate it! I guess it 's different strokes for different folks! ;D Ohhh, yes! It was! I was so mad at her for that - especially when after everything happened and Dima was in the jail and she's telling Adrian she still wants to work it out with him. WHAT??? You know you're not serious, Rose! Jeez! I was also seething at Lissa! And Dima! I was like SERIOUSLY - Rose is the one who went through hell for him and whattttt?? Lissa just got lucky - she woud have never been able to do it if it hadn't have been for Rose or Christian!

@Holly It is a very disturbing book indeed! I felt the same way - especially after I saw the trailer for the film and saw the killer. I have the film because someone gave it to me, but I've never ended up watching it because I'm too scared. :D Thank you! It's a pretty good series, I think! :)

@Racquel That is how I was! I put off Blood Promise for a loooong time actually and kept reading other things, but since I started it again I can't stop until I'm done! :D

Thank you all for commenting! <333

  5. I LOVE this series so much! Rose and Dimitri make the cutest couple, Christian is the best character EVER, and I adore Adrian. <3

But this book frustrated me a bit too! I was mad at Dimitri for saying some awful things to Rose, and there were several times when I just wanted to slap him! And I don't like the way Rose treated Adrian either because he was just awesome and deserved better. :(

Still, I just love this series and I'm so excited to see what you think of the last book! (It's so much better, in my opinion!)

    Awesome review, Liza! :)
