A modern retelling of the German fairytale "Tristan and Isolde", Tris and Izzie is about a young witch named Izzie who is dating Mark King, the captain of the basketball team and thinks her life is going swimmingly well. Until -- she makes a love potion for her best friend Brangane and then ends up taking it herself accidentally, and falling in love with Tristan, the new guy at school. - Good Reads

I love Tristan and Isolde, so I was very interested to read this modern adaption which includes magic. Unfortunately I did not enjoy it as much as I thought I would. It felt immature and I had a difficult time relating to Izzie and her best friend Brangane. I think this story could have been done a little better, because in theory it was interesting, but the characters are what ruined it all for me. Izzie was very stuck-up and unlikeable. Her friend Brangane was a horrible friend. The cover is absolutely gorgeous. But I had a difficult time finishing this book. I can say that I do think that some younger readers might enjoy this book, preteens in particular.
