The first quarter or so of the book really dragged for me. There was a lot of whiny Juliette and sometimes I just wanted to reach in and smack her around a little. And sometimes it felt like there was too much Juliette and not enough interaction with others, but that changed throughout the book and I ended up being hooked and I loved the character developments.
And I'll try to zip it here and keep my fingers from saying the name of the person who deserves a lot of credit for making this book amazing, but I will say his name starts with a W and oooh la la, he stole my heart!
So, overall, this book had me rolling my eyes a little in the beginning, and sometimes I even felt like I was drowning in metaphors, but it heated up and I couldn't take my eyes off of the pages! Definitely recommend to those who love steamy scenes (there are some really good ones in this), love triangles and overall really good writing!

A part of me is attracted to dystopians, but the other part of me is horribly afraid of them. Paranormals frighten me sometimes, but I'm 99.9% sure that vampires, werewolves and other supernatural baddies are not lurking in the shadows of the night waiting for a chance to jump out and do evil things to me, so it doesn't hit me too close. But controlling and strict governments? That's a possibility and it freaks me the hell out. And the version of the United States that the main character Lena lives in is seriously effed up.
I started writing this review earlier today, got busy and took off for a while and now here I am again writing and I'm still thinking fondly of it. Lena started out as a very frustrating character. I totally understand her reasoning, especially in retrospect, but there were times where I wanted to reach in and strangle some sense to her. Her agreeable stance was mind boggling. Of course, when you grow up a certain way it is hard to come to grips with a different reality or accept change. Especially change that big.
I think what I found especially interesting about Delirium was the religious aspects, the way Lauren Oliver depicted Christianity being twisted into something that helps control or influence the population. It's something that has happened in the past and I found it interesting how that tied in. It wasn't a huge part of the story, just a little thing I noticed - so the book is by no means religious, but it made total sense.
I really loved the development and romance between Lena and Alex. It wasn't love at first sight and I felt it developed at a good rate - I even thought at one point, "dude, are they gonna hook up or whaaaat?" And I loved Lena's best friend Hana. In the beginning she's really the only breath of fresh air because Lena is such a stick in the mud and so focused on getting rid of the disease of love.
Overall I really, really liked this book. It had a really good and imaginative story, the characters were done very well, and it made me think and consider a lot. Well done, Lauren Oliver!
P.S. THERE IS AN EPIC CLIFFHANGER AT THE END OF THIS BOOK. If those bother you, which it did me a little (not exactly in a horrible way, but I'm just very eager to read the next book) you might want to wait a little to read it closer to the next books release date!

WHY DIDN'T I READ THIS AGES AGO? BECAUSE I'M STUPID!
I had a funny feeling about this book. I think I was afraid it wouldn't live up to it's hype and I actually haven't read a lot of dystopian novels and I wasn't sure if it'd be my style or not, so I kept pushing it to the side. I'm very sorry I did, because I'm in awe at how mind-blowing this book was and I wished I would have gotten to know Tris and Four a long time ago! I've been riding with my husband on his school bus route the entire week and I was able to block out the yelling and screaming of 30+ children because I was just THAT engrossed.
I want to squee a little about love though. The pacing of the romance in this book was perfect. I adore love stories that are played out just right, with the right amount of anticipation and chemistry and it was played out between Tris and Four PERFECTLY!
Overall, Divergent was AMAZING. You'll quickly get immersed into the story of Tris and her trials and tribulations. Go go go go get it as soon as possible if you haven't read it yet! If you have read it, OHMYGOD WANNA FIGHT ME FOR FOUR? HEEEEE'S MINE!

Oh my God. This was an AMAZING read! Thank you so much to the author for gifting this to me through Random Acts of Kindness! I am in freakin' love with this book! Seriously, this has to be hands down one of the best books I've read this year. I was a little skeptical about whether or not I'd like Perception to be completely honest. I wasn't sure it was something that I'd like, but after reading BJ's review at Dark Side of the Covers, I was sure I had to at least try it, because I trusted her good review on it and I'm so happy I did.
The Good Reads summary summarizes the basic premise of this novel well. Perception did start out a little confusing for me, but I caught on rather quickly. This novel is a mix of science fiction, dystopian and like another reviewer said, did feel a little like high fantasy.
The idea of ingeniums was very fascinating - to be able to communicate telepathically with an animal companion - the advantages and disadvantages it involved. The link between a person and their ingenium is very strong and ties them together for life. Ardana's tiger ingenium Rijan was such a beautiful character. She's wise and loving and their emotional connection made the book that much better.
The main character Ardana was the perfectly flawed heroine. I always get annoyed with main characters at one point or another, but I didn't once feel that with Ardana. She made mistakes, she wasn't perfect, but she grew on me very quickly and I rooted for her throughout the book. She's truly a kick-ass girl.
The love story was wonderful. It wasn't rushed, it was slow-moving, but it felt much more real for it. Ardana has some major issues to contend with and Kliax is patient and caring. He's also a total stud.
And I'm honestly just speechless! I really, really, really, really recommend this book. If I could give this book 5967856739874739872985 stars, I would. And it's only $2.99 for the kindle (and nook) edition! Definitely a must read!
