Hush, Hush (Hush, Hush #1) by Becca Fitzpatrick
Release Date: October 13th 2009
Publisher: Simon and Schuster
Page Count: Hardcover, 391 pages
Genre: Young Adult, Paranormal, Romance
For Nora Grey, romance was not part of the plan. She's never been particularly attracted to the boys at her school, no matter how much her best friend, Vee, pushes them at her...until Patch comes along.
With his easy smile and eyes that seem to see inside her, Nora is drawn to him against her better judgment, but after a series of terrifying encounters, Nora's not sure whom to trust. Patch seems to be everywhere she is, and to know more about her than her closest friends. She can't decide whether she should fall into his arms or run and hide. And when she tries to seek some answers, she finds herself near a truth that is far more unsettling than anything Patch makes her feel.
For Nora is right in the middle of an ancient battle between the immortal and those that have fallen - and when it comes to choosing sides, the wrong choice will cost her life. - Good Reads
I literally just finished this and I really liked it! I was reluctant to start it because I was actually trying to read Rebel Angels, but I decided to have a peek and that peek turned into me devouring the entire book within a couple of hours. Oops!
I've seen a lot of reviews comparing this to Twilight and I'd have to disagree, at least to me... they didn't seem similar. I mean, there were small similarities, but they didn't jump out and taunt me. I definitely felt Hush, Hush was it's own story. I didn't feel the characters were similar in the slightest. Different personalities and different circumstances.
Oh, Patch. Dark, handsome, mysterious, cocky... All the things I love in a fellow. I didn't feel he was too much of a jerk like I've seen many people mention. Maybe I'm a little thick-skinned, but I just felt as if there was just the right amount healthy banter to make me giggle and get all a-flutter.
I also liked the conversations between Nora and her best friend Vee. Some of them had me laughing out loud.
The book was not overly predictable. Of course, I totally saw the romance coming, but that's to be expected. If it hadn't of been there I would have been disappointed. But I was shocked by the ending. I wasn't picturing that ending at all and it took me by surprise.
I love this book, it is one of my all time favourites and I trust Crescendo will keep you on your toes. I am so desperate for the third book Silence, as it's ending was so shocking.
ReplyDeleteI think Patch and Nora are so cute together and though he is meant to be bad, there is a hidden sweet side to Patch.
I really, really loved it actually! I stayed up until 4 in the morning finishing Crescendo! Hahaha! The ending was REALLY shocking! October needs to come quicker so we can read Silence!!!!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed this one; I just thought it was a fun read and the chemistry between Patch and Nora was smokin' hot.
ReplyDeleteIt was, TG! I don't know, but I just love something about Patch! :D
