This Friday's Question:
How do you feel about the censorship of the freedom to read? Do you think the education system needs to be more strict on what children are exposed to in books?
Well, I'm completely against it. As a Mother I'd like my daughter to be able to go into her school library or any library and have as much available to her as possible. And banning is very selective. Sometimes it's a sex scene, sometimes it's a kiss between people of the same gender, etc. It depends on what they think is appropiate or innapropiate. I want to be able to draw the line for my daughter, not have somebody else draw it for me. That's what's up!!!! :O
It's Follow Me Friday over at Parajunkee!
The question this week is:
Q. What book that hasn't been turned into a movie (yet) would you most like to see make it to the big screen, and who would you like cast as your favorite character?
Shade and Shift by Jeri Ready-Smith hands down. I've always imagined Zachary from Shade as Paolo Nutini. Others that I would pick:
- Perfect Chemistry by Simone Elkeles
- Vampire Academy Series by Richelle Mead
- Prophecy of the Sister Series by Michelle Zink
- Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins
As for actors, that's going to require a lot of thought. I don't often use actors or celebrities when I picture characters - I often make them up, so it's tough. I might edit this if I can think of any in particular. Sometimes I'll watch fan videos and I really would love Henry Cavill to play Dimitri in Vampire Academy. Puuuuurrrrrrrrrrr!
Shade is in my TBR, I'm looking forward to it!

Oh, man! Perfect Chemistry would be absolutely awesome as a movie!! I would love to see that.
ReplyDeleteHopping through. I agree that books shouldn't be banned. What may be inappropriate for one child may really touch another.

I think banning books with those controversial scenes is a bad idea. I would hope that if a child or teen read about such things then they would actually make them want to ask their parents questions about it. When people tried to shelter kids from these things, it really just ends up making things worse in the long run.
ReplyDeleteAnna and the French Kiss!!! Yay! I love love love Anna! and I want them on the big screen too! I'll be the first one in line! =) Great pick!

Thanks for stopping by my blog, I'm a new follower. I disagree with censorship as well. I don't see how it is anyones business what we read! If a parent wants to limit what their children read, thats different and it should be upto the parent not someone else!
ReplyDeleteANNA! I would absolutely LOVE to see that movie! The magic of France plus the hottness of Etienne? I don't know about you, but I think that would make an amazing film! LOL!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for stopping by, Liza! I'm definitely an old follower who just ADORES your blog! :)
Hope you have an awesome weekend!
Henry Cavill as Dimitri is a good choice! Mostly I see people say Ben Barnes (although he is very pretty also).
ReplyDeleteOh, Anna and the French Kiss would be such a cute movie. Love that book.
ReplyDeleteI understand your point!! here's mine:

I totally agree with your POV on banning books. Anna and the French Kiss would be such a nice movie. I've actually pictured as Charlie Bewley as Etienne
ReplyDeleteI definitely agree when it comes to banned books. It's unfair to choose what's appropriate or inappropriate and I'd completely agree - I'd want to be able to teach my (future) kids that myself. :)
ReplyDeleteYES SHADE AND SHIFT!!! I would see those as movies in a second, I would love to see Zachary up on screen and hear that fabulous accent. *swoon* Have a great weekend Liza!
ReplyDeleteOoooo Very nice actor pics for Zac and Dimitri. I think I would die of happiness if they ever made a movie of Shade and Shift.

Hopping through. Thanks for the visit and follow. :) I'm following back as well. You have a lovely blog. ^^
ReplyDeleteI haven't read Anna and the French Kiss yet. I think I'm one of the last people on Earth who haven't. Lol. I have it on my TBR pile, though, so I'm definitely getting to it in the near future I'm sure. :P
VA for the win! I don't know about Henry Cavil, though. I'll have to look him up. I've never really been one of the Ben Barnes fans for Dimitri although I wouldn't complain- he's a cutie! I actually think Jared Padalecki would make an amazing Dimitri now that I've thought on it. <3 him. Haha.
Hope you have a fantastic weekend! :)

Thanks for stopping by! I think that parents should be the ones to draw the line for their own children also.
