I had a funny feeling about this book. I think I was afraid it wouldn't live up to it's hype and I actually haven't read a lot of dystopian novels and I wasn't sure if it'd be my style or not, so I kept pushing it to the side. I'm very sorry I did, because I'm in awe at how mind-blowing this book was and I wished I would have gotten to know Tris and Four a long time ago! I've been riding with my husband on his school bus route the entire week and I was able to block out the yelling and screaming of 30+ children because I was just THAT engrossed.
I want to squee a little about love though. The pacing of the romance in this book was perfect. I adore love stories that are played out just right, with the right amount of anticipation and chemistry and it was played out between Tris and Four PERFECTLY!
Overall, Divergent was AMAZING. You'll quickly get immersed into the story of Tris and her trials and tribulations. Go go go go get it as soon as possible if you haven't read it yet! If you have read it, OHMYGOD WANNA FIGHT ME FOR FOUR? HEEEEE'S MINE!

Beatrice "Tris" Prior has reached the fateful age of sixteen, the stage at which teenagers in Veronica Roth's dystopian Chicago must select which of five factions to join for life. Each faction represents a virtue: Candor, Abnegation, Dauntless, Amity, and Erudite. To the surprise of herself and her selfless Abnegation family, she chooses Dauntless, the path of courage. Her choice exposes her to the demanding, violent initiation rites of this group, but it also threatens to expose a personal secret that could place in mortal danger. Veronica Roth's young adult Divergent trilogy launches with a captivating adventure about love and loyalty playing out under most extreme circumstances. - Good ReadsWHY DIDN'T I READ THIS AGES AGO? BECAUSE I'M STUPID!

I LOVED this one! I was hesitant because of the hype, but it lived up to all the rave reviews. Great review!
ReplyDeleteI loved it too! Although my complaint is that I wanted the book to be couple of hundred pages longer, - it ended to quickly and left me with lots of questions :) Long wait for Insurgent...
