It's Follow Me Friday over at Parajunkee! The question this
week is:
Q. It's that pesky magic book fairy again! She has another wish: What imaginary book world would like to make a reality?

Well, I'm in the middle of the Vampire Academy series right now and I'm kind of in love with that world, but it's a little dangerous... I'd probably say Harry Potter, as long as I'm not a muggle! I'd love to be a little wizard. That would be tons of fun! Or... The Nevernever from the Iron Fey series! Yes!

TGIF at GReads!

This Friday's Question:

Book Disappointments: Have you ever come across a book you were so stoked to read, but it failed miserably in your eyes?

Indeed it has happened to me... unfortunately.

Nightshade by Andrea Cremer
This book failed my expectations. I'm embarrassed to admit it, because everyone and their brother loved the book, but I just wasn't as captivated by it like I thought I would be. Calla wasn't my type of girl. She played herself up as this badass alpha, but I wasn't feeling it one bit. I felt she was submissive to everyone and she was a little too... horny. Nothing wrong with that per se, but the whole book seemed to be her jumping between boys and fretting over what she had to do without any real action. The end was exciting, but everything leading up to it got old really fast for me. Okay, off to find a place to hide!

  2. Sorry to hear that Nightshade didn't work out for you. I've thought of reading that as one of the books I'll review for my "shifters & weres" week in October. Hmm... We shall see. Anyway, nice blog. :)

  7. Oh my gosh, yes!! I just finished the Vampire Academy series and I absolutely loved it! Plus, Julie Kagawa's Iron Fey series is one of my favourites of all time (and the world sounds so breathtaking!). But I still can't believe I haven't read Harry Potter yet! I definitely need to soon! x)

Thanks so much for stopping by, Liza! Of course I'm an old follower -- I LOVE your blog! :)

  9. VA would be a fantastic choice, so long as I had a sexy Guardian! (Why, oh why, did Dmitri have only SISTERS? *sigh*)

I'm with you on the muggle thing, too. Magic would be fun, though...Happy FF! :)

  10. I still have to read Nightshade, it's been waiting for me to read it forever. Vampire Academy books are also waiting for me. My poor books, they are so patient with me.

  11. I liked Nightshade, but I was very disappointed with the sequel, Wolfsbane. It got better half-way through, but it still wasn't enough to make it great. :( Also, I just finished the VA series and read the spin-off, Bloodlines. Just as good, if not better. I love me some Adrian Ivashkov! :D And Dimitri's not bad, either...lol.

  12. Oh I totally forgot to mention Nightshade!! Dangit. This book was such a disappointment for me. So much that I couldn't finish it!!!!

  13. I went with Iron Fey! It's just such a clever little world.

  14. Oooo yes the Vampire Academy world would be fabulous as long as Dimitri came with it:) Definitely dangerous though. And I would love to be a wizard too, I want to walk down Diagon Alley and buy cool things to take with me to school. Happy Friday Liza!

  15. Liza!! If you go live in Rose's world, I want to come! Although, I want Dimitri. I think I can take Rose...what do you think *flexes muscles*? I'd totally do dangerous for that dhampir! :D Love LOVE that series. Blood Promise was a hard book for me, but I still loved it. Spirit Bound and Last Sacrifice were wonderful! But, I would love to be a witch. Magic is my middle name...well, not really, but that would be cool. Oh the books we could romp through and the fun we could have!

  17. Yeah, I know what you mean about Nightshade. I haven't read the second book, just not that interested.

Awesome week, Liza! Thanks for all the fun links. Gonna go check out a few. :)

    Happy Weekend.

  19. I think I know what you mean about Nightshade. I think I was lucky and got to read it before all the hype exploded, so I knew nothing about it when I read it. I really think that helped.

    What a great week!

  20. Thanks for dropping by and following me! I'm following you back now as well :)

I would love it if the VA world was real too! :D that's one of my favorite series

  26. @Rebecca Wee! Well, VA is a little dangerous. It'd only work out for me if I had some sexy guardian protecting me at all times! ;)

@Mimi Woohoo! I'm loving it too! Really interesting series! Love Iron Fey too! Obviously! :] WHOA! I think you're the first person I've met in my LIFE that hasn't read Harry Potter! :D I think even my Mother in-law has! Ahaha! :)

@Reading Inspired Writing Thank you! Puck is amazing! I'd love to spend a day with him! :)

@BJ I AGREE! Isn't that horribly sad? Only sisters! :(

@Mrs Q I completely understand you! My TBR pile is MASSIVE AND IT LOOMS AND MOCKS ME! :)

@starryeyedjen Were you? I've heard a lot of people were disappointed with the sequel. I've picked it up twice and tried to read it and wasn't able to get very far. :/ I love Adrian too! I'm so glad he's in Bloodlines!

@Ginger It's nice to know I'm not the only one - there isn't something horribly wrong with me! :D

    @fairypenguin It is! :)

@Jenny Yes, as long as there was Dimitri! Or at least some sexy guardian to keep me safe!!! O:) And I'd love to go to Diagon Alley! I really want a pet owl! :D

@Jen I WILL BRING YOU WITH, MY DEAR! We could both whip some Rose ass, I'm sure! I'll back you up! Just leave me Adrian! ;D

@LibrarySnake Yes, it would be rather boring to watch everyone else be all magical and not be able to take part! No thank you! :D

@Missie I'm glad to see I'm not the only one! I thought perhaps I had some sort of personality disorder! ;)))

@Trish VA is good stuff! :) Check it out!

@Melissa Yes, had I have read it before it blew up and became really popular I probably wouldn't have been as disappointed honestly!

@Taylor Yay! :) More VA fans!

@Rochelle Aww, thank you! Tsk tsk! It's okay! :) We all have our differences!

@gonepecanla Glad to hear more people who felt the same way I did! :)

@duchess_mommy Both series are good! You should definitely read them! :)

@Black Disaster Fairy Awww! You might like it though! Plenty of people did! :) Starcrossed and Hunger Games are on my list! So we'll see how those go for me! I'm curious, because Hunger Games is REALLY popular!

@Danielle Gorman Me too! I'd flick that wand around, make magic happen and love it! ;D

Thank you all for stopping by and commenting! I wish you all a lovely weekend! <333

  27. I'll add my name to the list of people totally OK with the VA world becoming real. It just seems sexier than our world, doesn't it? As long as I could have Adrian. Or OK, you can have Adrian, but he must be allowed to visit my dreams occasionally. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  28. @TG It does! Okay!!! I will take all of Adrian that I can get! ;D You can have some dreams! Bwuahaha! :D

  29. Hi! Just hopping through and saying thanks for visiting my blog! I love your background ... and that's a good question from GReads. Unfortunately, I have quite a few books that did not live up to the hype.

  30. I really must check out Perception! You have me intrigued!!

  31. Oh, how terrible would it be for the Harry Potter world to be real and to be stuck as a Muggle?!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Hey thanks for stopping by! I think the Harry Potter world depends upon not being a muggle (nobody wants to end up being Petunia) - I was also really disappointed in Nightshade. I'd heard great things but I'm stuck about halfway through.

  33. I still haven't read that series, but it's on my list. Thanks for stopping by on Friday!
